Technical Sales Engineer Italy – Fastening Solutions

Place of work: home office, preferably northern part of Italy (region between Milano and Bologna)


* Independent sales role in the assigned territory - Italy, concentration on the northern half of the country
* Selling high quality fastening solutions (fasteners) to the sheet metal fabricators
* Working closely with customers and regional distributors, providing know-how in self-clinching fasteners both at the design/concept stage and in full production
* Working actively in the field, visiting sheet metal fabrication clients (production plants) and advising them technically on fastening solutions
* Assist and provide customers with solutions on fastener component selection through advice, arranging sample installations and providing test report data compiled by the Applications Engineering Department,
* Generating and presenting technical presentations to demonstrate that products and services meet the customers’ needs
* Emphasis on developing new business from existing customers in Italy (sheet metal fabrication) and acquiring new clients
* Ensuring that the growth of sales meets and exceeds agreed target related performance requirements
* Gathering data from distributors and customers in a standard format (forecasts, sales & stock reports, price monitoring, etc.)
* Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
* The promotion of insertion machines to support the sale of Brand fasteners
* Prepare monthly territory reports specifically updating progress on key projects and targets
* Maintain and update customer information and activity on the CRM system (salesforce.com) and follow up pipeline progression
* Report to Sales Manager


* Higher level education, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum 2 years of experience in technical sales environment, sheet metal forming / fabrication market is preferred
* Practical knowledge from sheet metal forming / fabrication market is preferred / big advantage
* Experience of selling product and process technical value
* We are also open for candidates from technical departments, R&D, production, interested in developing in sales
* Sales experience in the fastening / fasteners business will be a asset but is not a must
* Good English is a must (training, technical documentation, reporting, negotiations) + native Italian language
* Availability to travel extensively in the assigned territory, active sales activities, client visits in the field
* Strong business acumen, client focussed and results driven
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work independently, well organized
* Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel to include presentation skills
